A studio's engineers are its blood and lifeline... In a remote facility, this premise is even more true... Record Plant Remote is proud to have an elite crew of engineers whose reputation preceeds them.

Robert "Kooster" McAllister - Owner And Chief Of Engineering

Kooster McAllister came to New York City’s Record Plant Studios in 1978 working on their mobile recording units as an Assistant Engineer. Working his way up to Chief Engineer, he purchased the remote recording division from Record Plant Studios in 1991 and opened Record Plant Remote, Inc. Since that time Record Plant Remote has been an industry leader in remote recording and live broadcasts, with credits that read like a “who’s who” of the entertainment industry.
From classical artists like Luciano Pavarotti and Itzhak Perlman (with the New York Philharmonic), to the Rolling Stones and Bruce Springsteen, Guns ‘N Roses to Prince, The Who to Bon Jovi and Billy Joel - Kooster’s clients vary widely.
Kooster has mixed and recorded many of rock-n-roll’s biggest music festivals, including the 1994 and 1999 Woodstock Music Festivals, Live Aid, Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival and the Country Music Association Festival/Fan Fair in Nashville to name a few.
Kooster has been honored with a Grammy Award for his work on the movie “Standing in the Shadows of Motown” and was nominated for three Emmy Awards for his live-to-air HBO concerts of Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Bette Midler. Mix Magazine awarded McAllister four TEC Awards for “Remote Recording Engineer of the Year”, the Record Plant Remote has won six TEC Awards as “Remote Recording Facility of the Year”.
His work has not been limited to only shows done on the Record Plant truck - Kooster has engineered shows in Canada, Europe and South America for Garth Brooks, Jewel, the UK’s International Rock Awards as well as Rush’s multi-platinum “Rush in Rio” concert DVD and the recent Rolling Stones live television concerts broadcast in Rio and Buenos Aries. Kooster spent this past Summer in Nashville as music mixer for NBC TV’s live-to-air reality television series “Nashville Star”, now in its sixth season and CMT’s“Can You Duet” which is now in pre production for season two.
